Headed to Seattle on Alaska Airlines soon – what’s their in-flight entertainment like? Do they offer free movies?
Yes! Alaska Airlines has a solid in-flight entertainment system. You can usually stream a good selection of movies and TV shows directly to your own device.
They partner with Gogo for their streaming service. The selection is surprisingly good, with a mix of new releases and older favorites.
I love that their Wi-Fi usually works pretty well, making streaming smooth! And yes, the movies and most TV shows are completely free.
Don’t forget – they also have a decent selection of audiobooks and podcasts if you want something different for your flight.
I discovered some true hidden gems last time I flew with them.
Anyone know if Alaska has those pre-loaded entertainment systems on the seatbacks? Not all their planes have the streaming system yet.
I think it depends on the aircraft. When I flew to Anchorage last year, my plane had the seatback screens with a bunch of movies already loaded.
It’s best to check their website – Alaska Airlines has a page specifically about their in-flight entertainment options. I always visit that page before flying with them. Here’s the link: https://www.alaskaair.com/content/travel-info/flight-experience/inflight-entertainment
Pro-tip: Download the Gogo Entertainment app before your flight if you want to use the streaming service. It’ll make connecting a breeze.
Does the in-flight Wi-Fi work for browsing the web, or is it just for the entertainment system?
@NovaChaser You can use it for regular browsing too! It’s not the fastest, but it works for checking emails and social media.
I was pleasantly surprised by how much content Alaska Airlines offers. Definitely made my long flight to Hawaii much more enjoyable
Anyone tried the Alaska Beyond Entertainment service they offer? I heard you get some extra perks with that.
@EchoWanderer It’s basically their premium entertainment tier. You get access to more movies and sometimes even live TV streaming.
